How We Can Support You

Astoria School District is proud to partner with families in their educational journey. We offer a variety of supports to enhance your homeschooling experience. If you have questions or need more information, please contact us at (503) 325-6441. See what’s available for your student at each grade level in the schools listed below:

Enrichment Classes: Students can participate in high-quality classes such as music, physical education, art, and hands-on activities that complement home learning.

Athletics and Activities: Students can join sports teams, clubs, and extracurricular activities to build friendships, teamwork, and social skills.

Field Trips & Library Time: Learning goes beyond the classroom with engaging educational outings and community-building opportunities.

Student Support Services: Access to Special Education, speech therapy, reading specialists, behavior supports, English Language Learners, Talented & Gifted programs, and counseling classes to ensure every child’s needs are met.

Astoria Choice Online Academy: 100% free, fully online homeschool curriculum for students K-8. Parents will have an active role in their child’s education, with help from a certified teacher, who provides additional support for parents.

 

 

Homeschool Q&A

  • Yes. The Astoria Choice Academy is a comprehensive online program for grades K–12, taught by certified teachers and designed for flexibility. Learn more at Astoria Choice Academy or call (503) 325-6441.

  • Yes. Families can request a “Courtesy Enrollment,” which allows students from other districts to attend Astoria Choice Academy or in-person schools with permission. Find more information at Out of District Enrollment.

     

  • Absolutely. Students may register to take individual classes at Astoria schools and can also participate in sports, clubs, drama, music, art, PE, field trips, and more. Many extracurriculars, including drama productions, are open as clubs and don’t require enrollment in a class. Details and school contacts are available on this webpage.

  • Yes. Any student attending classes in the district must register. School offices will help make this process simple. Visit Registration Information for guidance.

     

  • Yes. Astoria schools provide reading interventions, small-group support, and specialists trained in the science of reading. In addition, the district is legally required to support all children who may have a learning disability. For special education services, contact the Special Programs Office at (503) 325-0476.

     

  • Students enrolled in district schools are required to participate in state testing beginning in 3rd grade, though parents may opt out annually. Learn more at Opt-Out Information.

Astoria Choice

Astoria Choice Online Academy offers a flexible online learning option for Oregon students, with parent involvement to support success at home. Enrollment is open to all Oregon residents, with an Out of District Enrollment required for families outside the Astoria School District.
