ASD Facility Bond Oversight Committee Information


The Astoria School District School Bond Oversight Committee is established as an oversight committee of the Board of Directors and not a decision making committee.

The Oversight Committee shall be composed of no fewer than 7 and no more than 14 members, to be confirmed by Astoria School Board. Members shall primarily be professionals with experience in construction, finance, auditing, public budgeting, banking, and general business. One or two board members and the Business Manager shall serve as ex officio members. The make-up of the oversight committee shall include the following:


  • Architect(s)
  • Project Manager
  • Superintendent
  • 6 or 7 Community Members (selected through an application process)
  • One or two board member (ex officio members)
  • Business Manager & Director of Maintenance (ex officio members)


 Eligibility for Community member participation on the Bond Oversight Committee includes:

  • Live within the Astoria School District
  • Be a registered voter
  • Not be an employee of the District to serve as a community member position

Timeline for Bond Oversight Committee Member Selection

December 17, 2018 – Application to be publicized throughout district communication channels

January 21, 2019 – Applications due

February 13, 2019 – Superintendent makes recommendation to the school board for community members to be part of the Bond Oversight Committee

First meeting – Date to Be Determined (March 2019 or April 2019)
